The Spear, SJSU's student-run magazine, was rebranded over three issues. After my initial layout contributions in Issue 53, I introduced a clean, editorial style aimed at a younger audience. This new visual system—featuring modern typography and structured layouts—continued into Issue 54 & 55 for consistency and impact.

The Challenge
Reimagine a legacy student publication with a cohesive, modern editorial design that could unify diverse content and better engage a college-aged audience—while preserving clarity and professionalism.
My Approach
I introduced a clean editorial system with modern typography and bold, collectible covers. To drive the new editorial style, I photographed the cover athlete for the rebrand, creating a strong visual centerpiece that unified each issue and boosted student engagement.
